There once was a limerick penned
with a whole extra line at the end,
but it sounded all wrong,
it was one line too long
and it failed to live up to the trend
of a verse form one cannot extend.
There once was a four-liner written,
the first of its kind here in Britain.
It started off fine
but was missing a line.
Yet another one just didn't scan.
It was written by the very same man,
and as if that wasn't enough,
it didn't rhyme either
and was considered by all and sundry as a complete load of crap.
