Well, back in the mists of time, at an extremely pleasant and relaxed summer barbecue, John and some friends somehow assumed the personæ of RAF pilots. It was that sort of a barby.

Jon became 'Pongo', Bob became 'Algie', Rick - 'Ginger' and John - 'Biffo'.

While the pseudonyms of the others faded with their hangovers, because 'Biffo Griffin' had a nice ring to it, the nickname stuck.

The rest is history... or geography... possibly home economics.
